Boat Hugger or Water Walker?

Open Your Bible to Matthew 12:22-33
Faith means having confidence in the unknown. It means having doubtless confidence in Christ. Still, the unknown can be frightening. It’s hard to leave the comfort and security of the boat for the unknown waters. But as faithful followers of Christ, we have to have confidence that when we step out of the boat that he will keep us afloat. We cannot stay on the boat forever. Our faith cannot have restrictions—it craves the vast waters. Open your bible and let’s take a look at how we can avoid being boat huggers and become water walkers.

 

Four Reasons to Step Out of the Boat

  1. When I step out in faith, I experience greater power. (Mathew 12:22-29)
  2. When I step out in faith, I experience greater intimacy. (Mathew 12:30-31a)
  3. When I step out in faith, I experience greater growth. (Mathew 12:31b-32)
  4. When I step out in faith, I experience greater understanding. (Mathew 12:33)

Five Steps to Step Out in Faith 

  1. Recognize His Presence (Mathew 12:27)
  2. Request His Guidance (Mathew 12:28)
  3. Respond in Faith (Mathew 12:29)
  4. Remember Your Focus (Mathew 12:30)
  5. Rejoice in Worship (Mathew 12:33)
